Carl Froch, the renowned boxer from Nottingham has expressed his confidence for winning back his WBC Super-Middleweight title before the Super-Six battle he is going to fight against Arthur Abraham.
Froch is going to take on Abraham to reclaim the WBC belt vacated by Mikkel Kessler after an injury. Kessler bagged the title after defeating the Nottingham man back in April.
The pair met at the latest round of the Round-Robin Tournament held in Helsinki, and came face-to-face while addressing the final press conference on Wednesday in Finland. Passing on rather optimistic and confident remarks about
his expected performance, Froch said: “I plan to come into the ring and win this belt back.”
The 33-years old emphatic boxer had eventually lost his title back in April when he suffered a point defeat against Kessler who later on had to withdraw from the tournament after a fierce eye injury which has even put his whole
career in joepordy.
For Froch, it was the first defeat of his impressive 27-fights career. Interestingly, now, to regain his title, he is going to face a person in the ring who also had his first loss this year. Abraham had been beaten by Andre Dirrell
back in March.
Froch’s determination for winning the game has stirred his spectators to anxiously wait for his coming fight. However, on the other hand the 30-year old Abraham also seems determined. While talking to the media, Abraham said that
he was well prepared for the Saturday night battle.
Having a considerably tall physique and a greater arm reach than Abraham, Froch will definitely have an advantage in the fight. For this crucial fight, Froch stepped away from a Middleweight fight for the Super-Six tournament.
Before being declared disqualified against Dirrell for hitting the American boxer as he had slipped to one knee, which resulted in his defeat, Abraham had defeated Jermain Taylor in the first fight of the tournament. When he was
approached by reporters who were trying to take his views on the size matter, Abraham said: “Inside the ring all that matters is to be mentally stable.”
He was of the view that it did not matter how big or small a boxer was, instead, it’s all about being quick and clever. “The clever fighter always wins” Abraham concluded.
On the contrary, Froch was of the view that he went into every fight with aim to win it. Even if that meant throwing bombs and breaking ribs, the boxer was ready to do everything to win his belt back. He claimed to come back into
the fight with self belief and confidence. “I don’t think it should have ever been taken away in the first place. I predict I am going to win by any means necessary on Saturday night” Froch concluded.
No matter what the results on Saturday night, both the boxers are going to enter the ring for the semi-finals of the tournament. In the following fights they would be facing Andre Ward and Sakio Bika.
While sharing his views with the press, Sauerland Kalle, Abraham’s promoter shared that Arthur’s training camp had been the camp of his life as he was going to be in the ring for the fight of his life. He claimed that his fighter
would successfully bag the title in his second division.
On the other hand, Froch’s promoter Mick Hennessey was of the view that this was going to be a sensational fight between the two amazing warriors, both having big punching power. He concluded his remarks while saying that Carl
was there to claim something that was rightfully his, the charming WBC belt. He stated that he truly believed in Froch being the best Super-Middleweight boxer in the world.
