From Belfast to Dublin, Visa?

I am just wondering do I need a Visa to take a bus or train from Belfast to Dublin, and stay in Dublin overnight?

No you don't.  Just get on the train or bus  at one end and off at the other. There are no border controls now, and nobody is going to be asking for a visa.  Bring ID with you, preferably passport. If you are staying in an hotel, they might require it, and if you are young and going into a pub or club, they may ask to check you are not underage.  If you are doing over-the-counter banking and you haven't an account there, you could be asked for ID too.   Enjoy your visit.

For UK citizens and NI citizens there is not a visa requirement nor a Passport ! You should however carry a verifiable photo id, driving licence etc. I know that no Irish citizen would need a visa or passport to travel to Belfast! There are now Smart Passes for Irish Citizens which enable them to travel for free in the North of Ireland if they hold a Free Travel Pass in the South. Enjoy the trip.

Where are you from? If you're an EU citizen, the answer is no, you just need your passport.

If not, you'll need to contact the Irish embassy.

If you need a visa for the UK, you will need another one for Ireland. Although its likely that no-one will check between Belfast and Dublin.

There is no formal border, and no passport check - although the police sometimes ask people on the trains and buses.

i'm nearly certain a Visa is only required when travelling out of the EU. bring your passport just in case I guess, no need for the visa though.

By the way...a Northern Irish citizen IS a UK citizen not a seperate thing as someone else says here.

If u r from outside the EU then Visa may be required.

Northern Ireland is in the EU so you don't need a VISA to stay in the Republic.
