my friend is transferring from Canada University to Lancaster University. He is stopping with me in Blackburn but he needs to get to lancaster everyday. He can drive but he is not getting a car over here and you cannot get busses from Blackburn to Lancaster. Any suggestion on how to get there?

  1. The only public transport options are:-

    1. Train from Blackburn, changing in Preston. Time the connections right and the journey could take 45 minutes each way which isn't too bad. The problem is the university is quite aways out of the city and he'd need to take a bus to reach the campus.

    2. Bus 152 from Blackburn to Preston, then train to Lancaster, but I'm not sure if the bus fare would save him much money and the journey is bound to be much longer.

Students can get a young person's railcard to save one-third on rail fares.

He may save money on rent by lodging with you and you may be great mates and all, but he should seriously look into lodging near the university if the commute is too costly and too much of a hassle. Just my 2p!

  2. Train?

  3. Awkward, unless theres somone nearby who has a car and can give him a lift, there are trains from blackburn to Lancaster, then he would have to get the university bus from Lancaster out to the university. EDIT>>> if trains are a no go then he has big problems!!!
