I need to travel from Frankfurt to Amsterdam by Train. Is there a train from the International Airport at Frankfurt that I can take to Amsterdam? Also how much time does it take between the two cities by train?

  1. You will have to go into the city of Frankfort to the main railway station,... there is a bus from the Airport to the station and then the main rail way station in Amsterdam is smack in the heart of the city! Have fun

  2. Yes you can take the train from Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof to Amsterdam from 3.42 hours up. If there's still time you should book in advance as then you could get a ticket for euro 39!

  3. Europe has a very advanced train system that generally leave from dedicated train stations (they rarely leave from airports unless they are commuter trains). They is more than likely a train that travels from Frankfurt to Amsterdam which may or may not be direct.

There are several websites you can use to find trains:

  4. No need to take a bus downtown, you better use the S-Bahn. The Frankfurt airport has a train station itself with a lot of long distance trains stoping there to pick up travellers. So you might have a good chance to pick the right train at the the airport train station.

    Happy journey :-)

  5. The Frankfurt International Airport indeed has two train stations. The one for local trains (Lokalbahnhof) and the other for long distance trains (Frankfurt Airport Fernbf). From there directs trains to Amsterdam are departing every two hours. Travel time 3:42 hrs.

Other trains require several train changes and therefore take longer.

  6. There are two railway stations at Frankfurt airport - Frankfurt (M) Flughafen Fernbahnhof for long-distance trains, and Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof for local trains. There's an ICE (InterCity Express) from Fernbf to Amsterdam Centraal every 2 or 3 hours (e.g. tomorrow at 0743, 0943, 1143, 1343, 1643) takes 3 hours 42 minutes, one way second class fare is €105.60. There are other journeys possible, involving between 1 and 5 changes of train, taking between 4h58m and 7h21m, and costing between €87 and €100.
