I am planning to take a Cruise out of Long Beach. I am flying in to LAX and am wondering how to get from the airport to the cruise dock. Has anyone taken a cruise from long beach, if so, was there transportation from the airport to the cruise included?

  1. Best advice : Call a taxi / Get a shuttle. Don't bother yourself with trying to get from LAX to Long Beach, it's pointless when there's MUCH easier ways of getting there (having someone else drive you). It'll be more relaxing for you (or whoever is driving), and you can sit back and see the wonderful scenery... lol. Have fun on your cruise!!

  2. If you booked it with teh cruise they will have someone waiting for you otherwise you can just take a taxi to the pier that you tell them specifically and then go from there and make sure to give your luggage to the right people as they are all crowded together and make sure your in the right area for your ship.

  3. I'm guessing you're going on a Carnival ship as the other lines use San Pedro.  You can check with Carnival and get the price of their shuttle or check with Supershuttle, coolrides.com (that's what we used to get from the Valley to the World Cruise Center in S.P. for our last cruise, and they were very reasonable for a private towncar), or one of the other shuttles.

From what I understand with the shuttle services that cruiselines use (and some other shuttle services) is that you're sharing with other parties.  Which means a lot of driving around and perhaps a lot of waiting at the airport or pier waiting for the van to fill up before they leave.

  4. the cruise company probably has transfer services but they are usually too expensive. my suggestion is to just take a taxi it is very easy, fast and simple.

  5. If possible, you might want to check with the cruise line to see if they offer a shuttle from the airport.  If not, research some of the local shuttle services to see how much they cost to go from LAX to Long Beach.  They usually will give you a pick up time and a flat rate.

I live in Los Angeles so I was able to get a ride to Long Beach.  However, when I'm out of state and cruising we usually just take a cab or call for a shuttle bus if we cannot get a hotel room that is near the port.

    Good Luck and Happy Cruising!

  6. check with super shuttle on line reservations can be made

  7. Well, the cruiseline's transfer program should offer you bus service for a fee. If it's $50 or less, I'd suggest taking it; it's less of a hassle and only a tad more expensive than your other options if you're the only person traveling.

A cab would be the fastest, but probably also the most expensive. A recent jaunt in a cab from LAX to Westwood cost me $48, and would likely be higher to Long Beach (though if there are a couple of you in the cab, the overall cost will be cheaper than alternatives).

LA is blessed with pretty decent "Shared Ride Van" services, most noticeably the Super Shuttle (those blue vans) and the Primetime Shuttle (the red ones). They'll probably charge you around $40 per person to get to Long Beach.
