  1. You can use the Eurostar (3 hours and about 100 euros/ticket) from Waterloo Station to Gare du Nord. Close to Gare du Nord it's Abricotel hotel, a small one, but cheap and clean. At few minutes walking you have 2 metro stations, so you can visit easily the whole city. Bon voyage !

  2. You can take either the train under the channel, or a plane from the airline Ryan Air, but you'll have to make a connection by bus.

You have every types of hotel around the train stations, don't worry about it. As for the distances between the station and the main attractions, you'll have to use the metro, it's the best way, and real easy. You'll find free metro maps at the train station tourist counter.

    Bon voyage

  3. If you plan to travel around Paris, you might find it economical to purchase a day travel card called "carte mobilis". This will give you unlimited travel on bus/métro & RER suburban train.

  4. Either a bus or regular train combined with the Channel ferry(not Eurostar) are going to be the cheapest way.

Paris is a very compact city and there is no particular advantage wither in proximity or cost in staying by the railway station.

If you're looking for cheap then the Hotel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arrondissement may be what you want. A single with shared facilities is only 50 euros a night.

  5. try skyscanner.net for flights

for cheap places, sites like hostels.com, hostelz.com, lonelyplanet etc.  They have hotels as well as hostels.  Paris has a lot of 2 star places (roms are generally very small, but they feed you breakfast) and some sites also have ratings of places as well.

I stayed in a place about 5-10mins walk from gare du nord train station (I think it was londres and anvers (london and antwerp i think is the englsih translation...tiny room however)
