From Ohio to ?

Okay,

I'm 25 and I love to travel. I've backpacked Europe and South America in years past.

This year I have very limited funds and only a week (June 13-21) to take a trip. I don't mind roughing it, but I do enjoy getting about as far away from home as possible.

I'm not a big beach or club person, though I don't actively avoid either scene. Gambling isn't big for me. I do like nature and going to shows.

I will either be traveling alone or with an old high school friend whose tastes are fairly similar to mine.

Any ideas?

I suggest checking out Great Smoky Mountains National Park (http://www.nps.gov/grsm/). It's not far from Ohio so your travel time and expense is minimized, has plenty of hiking trails (including a section of the Appalachian Trail and plenty of camping facilities.
