Question:

From Orsay to Eiffel Tower?

I'll be in Paris this summer with my family. I'm planning to visit the Orsay Museum after lunch, then to the Eiffel Tower before it gets dark. Is there a close bus stop, to catch bus#69 from the Orsay Museum? I heard that bus #69 has a great route, so I'm thinking about taking that until we reach the final stop, which I believe it will be the cemetary of the famous people (sorry, I don't remember the name of it) and it also just the other side of the Eiffel tower. Also, what time does it get dark in Paris in the summer time (it will be nice to see when they turn on all the lights of the Eiffel tower)? Last question, is it far to walk from the Eiffel Tower to the Trocadero Square? Since that will be our plan on Saturday, I heard the Trocadero Square will be a fun place to take the kids.

  1. Bus #69 stops right in front of the Musee D'orsay at the corner of rue de la Legion D'Honneur and the Quai Anatole France.

The Cemetary you are referring to is the Cimetiere du Pere-Lachaise. It is also on the route of Bus #69 but its on the east end of the city while the Eiffel tower is on the west.

The Trocadero is directly across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower and only a few minutes walk. It is a lovely place with the Palais de Chaillot and a marvelous set of fountains.

What would really make more sense is to start at the Trocadero (where you get the best view of the Eiffel Tower) and then walk across the river to the Tower. You can then either walk to Musee D'Orsay (a long but very nice walk with many things to see in bhetween) or take the bus. And then go from the Musee D'Orsay to the Cimetiere du Pere-Lachaise. on the bus.

NB: I'd wonder why you would choose to visit the cemetary (interesting as it is) in this particular itinerary. How many days do you have in Paris? The wording of your question suggests that this is not the only day you will be there.

  2. bus 69 goes right to the naughty places of paris, such as place pigalle.
