From Philippines: How can I send a text mesage to my relatives in Canada?

Do I have to use country codes and area codes? Or just the mobile number? My relatives are in Ontario.

You have to have the correct phone number always.  Check the area codes for the Providence you are calling and be sure to add the correct country code prefixes (eg. 1= United States 011= Europe, etc. )  Formulate your text message on your phone or mobile device and send it to the phone number of your relative.

try signing up an account at hotmail and then getting an MSN messenger account, this way you can send messages and talk at the same time, it's free and you can talk everyday.  If you don't know how to sign up, call your relatives to explain, I'm sure they know how, it's very popular in Canada.

The same way you call them...if you use a country code to call them, use a country code to text them.

you have to enter the following number in this format: +1- CityCode-Mobile number

example +1416846XXXX

Add +1 or 00 then their mobile phone number. You only need the country code, you do not the area code anymore. Remember, just the mobile number after the country code. :)

If you have a skype account than you send a sms for about $0.05 to any phone in the world.  Plus, they fill the coutnry code and stuff.
