From San Francisco Giants to Los Angeles Dodgers - It’s official: Juan Uribe now Dodgers property
The offseason in Major League Baseball will not slow down anytime soon and the month of December will act as a pacifier for the lost action that has come by, since the end of the World Series in November. The winter meetings are
scheduled to take place soon and when that happens, a lot of free agents in the market will make their way across markets to top bidding teams in the National League and the American League.
The free agency has been buzzing with activity lately and that is a sign of progress in terms of making the off field tenure more interesting for the baseball fans. There is no baseball action scheduled for a long time and while
exhibition matches hold promise, spring training will start in the middle of February. The players will work hard for the coming season and that will invigorate their hopes for the playoffs in 2011.
However, the current situation is that many analysts and baseball supporters that teams are looking to land as many players on the roster as possible. Juan Uribe is one of the recent big signings made by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The club that went ahead to trade Ryan Theriot with Blake Hawksworth from the St. Louis Cardinals, now has the perfect match for the second base position.
Uribe comes in to the roster from an excellent season. His tenure with the San Francisco Giants earned him a World Series ring. Juan can make teams bleed with the bat and his 9 runs in the Major Series act as a testament for that
fact.
Dodgers’ General Manager Ned Colletti made a comment on the hitter by saying, "As we witnessed, he can change a game with one swing of his bat. He has great enthusiasm for winning, defensive versatility and thunder in his bat...
That he's been on two World Series champions speaks for who he is and how he's contributed. He will provide more power than we've been able to account for from the positions he plays."
For Uribe, the three-year contract worth $21 million is something he will be proud of. “The Dodgers had a lot of interest in me to have me here and I'm very proud of that,” said Uribe. I hope I can help take the
team to the playoffs." It now has to be seen whether the batter can do exactly what he did with Giants.
