From a Wings fan: Wow, what a game! Congrats to the Pens! They showed heart!?

- Tired of cliché’s: “time and space” - analysts and players alike are using this more and more to generalize rather than describe a situation. It has it’s place, but it’s overused and abused. “keep moving our feet” – this oversimplifies SO many things. Yes, obviously you DO have to move your feet. This game is FAR more complicated than just moving your feet, and it insults me when someone points to that as a key to the game.

  1. First we were supposed to be swept...Then it was in 5...Now it's in 6? I don't think so--this ones going to 7 and all's fair in that one.Malkin had my foam brick hitting the screen more than a few times. He's definitely in a funk. I was screaming for Therrien to bench him in second period! He's an important member of the Pens whom, if he breaks out in gm. 6, could leave a bad taste in the mouths of the Redwings. WHAT A GAME!!!

  2. You, you did it again!  There are some seriously fast typists in this forum, and now I have a good Q to A, instead of my having to compose my praise of the players last night!

First, fantastic game, tons of heart from the Pens - especially with those injuries to work through - the commentators had written Gonchar out of the story when he came back for the last pp.

Malkin?  I've been a little concerned about Malkin, and though I struggle to keep track, thought he had a couple of better games, but I'm waiting to hear that he's sick or injured, or has something going on that's put his game out.  It's naive to expect the media to 'leave him alone', but I'm sure they are not helping by constantly picking on his mistakes.

Classy contributors?  Ones I currently like to hear from are:

You - you're the voice of caution to all us Wings fans.

None Profound - loves hockey and the Stars and gives fair and classy responses

LITY - is well busy right now, but always brings us some wisdom

    Erica - classy answers

Red Wings Queen - I like her enthusiasm

Heavysoviet - seems like a reformed character.

Joe B stuck around to tweak us all with some fun, without ever crossing 'that' line.

There are lots of others I'm missing.

In the world of hockey I'm very proud of the Wings organisation, for their attitude towards the opposing team.  They show up Therrien even more for his classless remarks.  I hope it's not a trend in the hockey world, but I fear that it's gone to his players.  When Zetterberg defended the 5 on 3 in game 4, young Sid's press comment came out all wrong, and I can hear in my imagination what Z's words would have been if it had been the opposite situation - it would have been along the lines of 'he did his job really well'.

  3. I think the beginning of the game was horrible for Malkin he couldn't handle the puck at all, but he seemed to get some confidence and some decent shots and plays as the game went on.  I think he may feel a little better after last night but the media is being way too hard on him.  He is 21, even Datsyuk didnt show up on the score sheets until recently yet you heard no criticism about his lack of points..  What I do hate are the constant no look passes him and Crosby try in the offensive zone.  Yes, if they connect they make the highlight reel but 9 times out of 10 it becomes a turnover and an oddman rush for the other team.  I wish they would stop trying to force those final little passes and just put the puck on net, especially Malkin, who has one of the best wrist shots in the game.  Last nights game was incredible, the Pens seem to peak way too soon and can never finish off an opponent .  They always get sloppy and let teams come from behind.  The Wings dominated the 3rd period and the first overtime.  MAF stood on his head to keep the Pens in the game.  But it seemed like a switch came on after that first OT where Pittsburgh realized they could hang and it showed by their numerous scoring attempts.  Malone and Gonchar, and even Sykora showed pure heart in that game.

  4. Malkin's play has been a little frustrating.  He started to pick it up in the overtime a little.  After all he set up the game winning goal.

  5. I'm A Wings Fan Also But I Give Totaly Props To Pittsburgh For Last Night's Win.. Everyone was Exhusted I Can't Imagine How They Keep Up Their Energy..

There's Always one for the Road eh?

  6. Detroit is the better team BUT you gotta give it to Pittsburgh that they didn't give up.  It was the Wings game to wing and they didn't. What will happen now.

Crosby showed a lot of leadership and play like a the superstar he could be.  Malone showed heart and Malkin should be benched.

  7. Way too many shots hit the posts. Malkin has no more steam left. Fleury is tearing it up.

Wings will win this, shoulda had it. But a great, great game none the less.
