Question:

From a wave standpoint (sinusoidal), can amplitude and magnitude be used interchangeably?

Wave equations in the form of Acos(wt 0), define A to be amplitude. Why is it never defined as magnitude? If it is expressed as a phasor, it automatically assumes the term magnitude. Is there a subtle distinction between the two for waves?

  1. Nah it should be the same thing from my understanding. Amplitude is what its actually called. Magnitude could possibly mean any value between -A and A depending on the data but the greatest magnitude is the amplitude and so A.
