  1. In theory you shouldn't need any identification because you are travelling within the United Kingdom. A driving licence ought to be sufficient should anyone ask for some ID.


  2. THe UK and Ireland are a so-called "common travel zone", and no ID is required normally. If you are driving you need your licence anyway.

    But neither country has joined the Schengen agreement, so you need a passport to get to the Continent.
