  1. It took us pretty much a day and a tank of gas to drive from Montreal,QC to Bathurst, NB, and that was 800 KM with a stop for lunch.

From Bathurst, NB to Calgary, AB it is 4800 KM so you should expect it to take about four days of 12hr driving, four tanks of gas unless you are in a Prius, stops for lunch and supper, with at least three hotel/motel stays with their continental breakfasts.

If I were to estimate $40 per day for meals, $100 per day for hotel, and $160 for gas, you are looking at over $600 for a one way trip. And if you need to return to the Maritimes afterwards, double those costs.

If you are just one person, I would strongly suggest a plane ticket. If you are 3-4 people, then driving is not so bad as you can take turns, and it may save you money (although you still lose 3-4 days each way in travel time to get there...a waste if that is vacation days being used up!).

  2. It's about 5000 kms

  3. I suggest you fly too, if possible; My son is flying Westjet from Toronto to Edmonton next Wednesday, total airfare including taxes $237.00. Granted he doesn't have a car so this was his best choice.

  4. I have a friend who lives in Alberta whom is original from Nova Scotia. She travels about ones a year to go and visit all them in her car, they said that it normally lasts about 3 nights and 4 days to get there and another 3 nights and 4 days to get back. She said that for hotels/motels, car gas, restaurants, snacks and everything that she normally spends about $1500 each way. So about $3000 is total for the getting and leaving there. But she has four children and a husband with her on the road. Honestly it is way cheaper if you fly, you'll save so much money. =S Take care and Good Luck!

  5. About 4 or 5 long driving days.  Watch out for speed traps.

  6. May not be a lot of help, but I went from Central Alberta to Nova Scotia in a comfortable 5 days. A friend of mine drove harder and made it in 3.

  7. about 3-4 days
