  1. It can depend on where you live in Canada, how you homeschool, and even on the high school.

Usually for jr. high there's no problem entering. High school can get trickier since it's all based on a credit system. You won't be put into gr. 11 just because you are that age; you have to have had the necessary prerequisite course credits. I've known jr. high homeschoolers switch to school here and they were just put in according to their age.

  2. yes, it is called a diagnostic test. I dont belive a child should be homeschooled for elementary school tho. i think it should be the other way around. you should put them in public school and then see if they want to be homeschooled in middle school. homeschooling is only good for certain types of children.

  3. In BC there is no testing.  They put the child into the age appropriate class.   It causes a lot of angst among some parents because their children are usually more advanced than their age.  It doesn't matter where they sit academically; they are placed with the age group.   I knew a girl in Alberta who joined school in grade 11.  The teacher admitted that the child did not belong in her class, she had nothing to teach her, but they still adamantly refused to advance her grade level.

  4. Im not possitive about Canada, but Im from America and I was homeschooled untill middle school, but I didn't need to take any test... in fact, I did better than the other students in my grade (or age group).

  5. Check with your school district for their policies.
