  1. all you have to look at the cold war and the veto powers of the five nations and how they use it as a tactic to simply implement their own agenda and ideologies. the soviet union and the united states did it all the time during the cold war. and as for the five nations with veto powers (china,UK,France, us and Russia) look how they used their vetoes in the past as well. in addition, look how the UN as an IGO has been ineffective in implementing ruling such as atrocities the US did to El Salvador in 1987...and good luck

  2. No it really is and always was irrevelevant. No one takes them seriously and no one follows their mandates. The USA gets stuck with 2/3 of the bill. It's time to just shut it down.

  3. Since it's inception it has been constrained by criminal activity and corruption.

last year the UN was implicated in child p**n and bondage. 2005 the Secretary general was implicated in a construction shake down ring.

The Un is a Fraud and needs to be dis-banned.

  4. The UN can take action only when the Member States of the UN want it to take action.

Think about Congress in the US - how effective has it been in addressing key issues like the war, immigration, healthcare, the environment, unemployment, and education? Whenever there is a bill to spend money, each member of Congress might want a cut for his own district. Whenever there is a vote, it is often entirely down political party lines. And when there are opinion polls showing a majority of the public favors something, there will always be a small group of congressmen who say no and want to keep debating or blocking the issue.

If Congress cannot be effective when all its members are serving the same country, imagine the UN where there are 192 member countries each with its own agenda.

  5. The UN is restrained by its own corruption and greed.

  6. I'll not give you the answer you are seeking.  I will give you a few hints and clues.  Pull up the U.N.s website and look at he members of such committees as Human Rights as well as the Security Council.  Look at those listed and ask yourself on which side of the fence are these guys?  Syria and Sudan on the Human Rights Council?

Then, look back at history.  In 1948 immediately after (not even a full day), Israel was given statehood, she was attacked by her neighbors.  What was the U.N.s response?  Understand that the U.N. is an intervening force, yet, they step into a conflict and fight to a draw.  When North Korea entered South Korea they sent in troops.  To this vary day, that "War" has never officially ended.  Now, ask yourself about Desert Shield/Storm and the current conflict in Iraq.  How are they related?
