  2. There is a train from Malaga airport terminating at Fuengirola.Benalmadena is about half way along the line and takes about 20 minutes. It's a bit of a trek to the station, maybe 10 mins walk, but I'm not sure how extensive works at the airport will affect this. Follow the "train" sign. You will need to get a ticket from the machine before you go up to the platform which is the one on the airport side. It's very cheap and you will need euro coins. I think trains run about every half hour, but I don't know what time they stop running (quite late). If you arrive at some ungodly time at night, a taxi will get you there in 25 minutes at about 30 euros. Ed.

Benalmadena covers quite a large area and most of it is hilly, the train station is situated in Arroyo del la Miel and unless you are actually staying in the Gamonal  area I would give the train a miss as most of the hotels are a good trek from the station.
