From my doctor I've been given ear-drops, antibiotics and painkillers?

After only two days the pain went away, is it still necessary for me to keep on taking the painkiller like it says on the box (until the box is depleted) - 2 tablets 4 times a day?

  1. no,  u  can  stop  taking  the  pain killer

but  you  should  complete  the  full  course  of  the  antibiotic!

  2. Narcotics should be taken only AS NEEDED, for the shortest amount of time necessary.  If the pain associated with your ear infection has diminished, no need to take them (OTC pain relievers should be adequate at this point, if necessary).  However, do finish your antibiotics, regardless of how much better you feel.

  3. oh you have an ear infection. I have an ear infection too right now. It doesn't hurt anymore so I stopped taking the pain killers, but the antibiotic kills the infection so I'm still taking that. The pill is huge, Arghhhhhh. It's too hard to swallow. The ear drops formed a crust in my ear. Do you have that?

  4. That is just the maximum they would want you to take. If you are not in pain, you should definitely stop taking the painkiller (but NOT the antibiotic- take that until it is gone.)
