If you wanted to start using biofuel, could you fuel your car with it right after your gas tank just regular fuel in it, or do you put

a type of conditioner in the tank or convert the engine or fuel lines to accomodate the biofuel?

  1. !!! DO NOT TAKE fragger's suggestion if you value your diesel engine.  Diesel engines will run on old fryer oil for a short time, but the fuel WILL damage/destroy the engine over time.  There are conversion kits that prevent/delay this damage.  Simply: Putting regular vegetable oil, used or new, into a diesel vehicle without a conversion, WILL destroy your engine.  It is simply a matter of time.

  2. also, if you have a diesel engine, you can get used deep fry grease from any fast food restaurant (they will give it to u for free, they usually have to pay to get rid of it). then u just strain it to get the chunks of potato and such out of it and put it right into your gas tank as u would diesel gas and u can run on that.

  3. Only use biofuels if your car is able to handle it. Most newer diesels can handle biodiesel. It should say on the inside of the gas tank door if your gasoline car can run E85. If either of those conditions are met, just fill the tank and you'll be fine.

If your car is not factory designed to run on biofuel, you can buy conversion kits. I don't know about biodiesel, but I can tell you a bit about E85. Make sure your tank is coated (most cars built since the 80s have coated tanks).

That is one of the more popular sites for E85 conversion. It should tell you everything you need to know.

  4. Waste vegetable oil at 200 degrees before diesel injectors is fine.
