From slumdog golfer to slumdog millionaire...the ultimate quest for Anil Mane
His journey is filled with examples of motivation, determination and perseverance. It is an excellent exemplification describing the will power, passion and dedication that anyone can have towards their interest and motives that they intend to achieve in their life.
The journey of slumdog golfer, Anil Mane, through the multitude phases that he has experienced in different golf courses in his career, comprises of various valuable lessons that can easily be extracted and applied from his life.
Opening his eyes in the slum areas of Mumbai where people strive to make their ends meet, this man dreams of becoming a golf player, a golf player that could change the life of his family.
A sport he thought would one day bring him the fame and popularity he deserves due to his exceptional dexterity in the game, and a game that could offer economic support and sustenance to his children.
However, everyone knows, including Anil, that the fulfilment of dreams can never be guaranteed. Realities are very different.
He did not had the money or the resources through which he could possibly afford to purchase the necessary apparatus required to play a game like golf, leave alone playing it.
They say life is certain, but, filled with uncertainties.
Things changed for Anil, he did found a bleak of hope in his life. He did found the access to enter a golf course for the first time in his life, not just to witness the game, but, become a part of the tournament also.
Above all, he was able to perform well in the tournament, he was able to testify that he can easily match the standards of any professional amateur golfer.
Apart from this, his basic necessity of getting enough money through which he could, at least for a fleeting period of time, satisfy his family's needs, became visible.
However, just when he thought things are getting under his control, they actually slipped out of his hands.
A grave mistake committed by Anil at a very early stage of his career was his immature attitude, believing that he could actually handle the various dynamics of the game himself, solely on his own.
He thought of dealing with everything on his own, from participating in an event to winning it.
He was doomed to think that he could fulfil all these things on his own. This is precisely where he met his first test, in the form of developing hostility with his close friend and under-performance in various tournaments.
As a result of which he began to fall short of money and once again distanced himself from the reality of dreams, he seemed to have grabbed after a long time.
However, these setbacks did not decline his spirit.
He continued his game with greater vigour and zeal, regardless of the fact that he was not being able to perform any better.
Secondly, another prominent factor that has always acted as a disturbing factor in the case of Anil is that he has always been overwhelmingly, pre-occupied by the domestic complications and problems he has been confronted with at home.
Even when playing the game he has been concentrating more on what will happen to his family if he loses the tournament, rather than making accurate assessments to pocket the ball.
It is primarily because of such factors that his progress halted in the game, however things can take a positive twist if the slumdog golfer invests more in his game, rather than prioritising it over the monetary value it can deliver.
Anil Mane, himself only, is the key determinant for the rise of a Slumdog Golfer.
