From the choices below which do you feel ought to receive the primary role in a difficult decision regarding medical technologies such as correction of disabilities, reproductive, genetic, etc. And why do you think this?

The choices are: the market, religion, culture, society, law/regulation, or science itself.

I agree, ethics.  From your list?  DEFINITELY NOT  religion or the market.  Not Culture, maybe society, eh.  law eh.  I'm most inclined to trust unbiased dedicated scientists.  Those whose answers would not be determined by big corporate bucks.

This is a question that should be in Ethics. All of the areas you speak of are related to medical ethics. A very difficult subject to say the least.

Anyone who has in mind the advancement of humanity without an unreasonable bias the entire populous does not share and isn't seeking profit. Sadly, this person or group does not exist (it would be far too ideal if it did).

I think the people who will benefit (non-profit) from this new product/finding should make the decision on those matters. The diversity of such group would indeed include people of varied opinions on ethics, religion, science, even maybe the market. Of course, I think they should be properly educated on the implications of such a technology to the extent of which they would be able to make an informed and thorough decision.
