hi,it would take some 15and half hours.......

from trivandrum central u have one train at 02:30 pm...so tat train will get there in avadi station sharply at 05.55am at morning and at chennai central at some 07.00am around..

There are two major routes to Chennai Central Station from Trivandrum, and are 1) Trivandrum-Ernakulam-Palakkad-Salem-Katp... & 2) Trivandrum-Nagerkoil-Thirunelveli-Virudu...

As per official timing of an express train, the time in the 1st route will be 16:05/15:00 hours from Trivandrum to Chennai depends the train (stopages). In the second route, the direct train from chennai to trivandrum (# 6124) will take 16:20 hours & Nagarkoil trains will take only 12:40 hours and you have to get connection train to Trivandrum from Nagarkoil.
