From tub to shower?

What is the average age that children switch from taking baths to showers?

I'd say about 6-7. That is what age I did.

It really depends on the child and family. Remember all children mature at different rates and every child is different. But since you ask for the average I would say between 9 and 10. Some are younger others older.

not an easy answer, some parents bring toddlers into shower with them, to get them used to it, I would think that a shower or a bath is a matter of preference, prefering one over other.

When you feel safe that they are ok. The child will soon let you know if they don't want to take a shower.

If you have both and the shower is hooked up to the tub sit the child in the bath and put the shower on and see if they go under it or not.

Your child should be at least able to stand in the bath first without wobbling.

I really depends on what kind of mother you are. For me, I let my son [12 now.] take showers at around 6-7. Make sure he/she is going to make her/himself clean enough on his/her own and make sure you really trust them not to pour water everywhere! =]

I started taking showers when I was 11 because they were much quicker.  But, I still take a relaxing bath every now and then.

5-6..with you standing nearby for the first few times..you may still have to help out a bit with "cleaning" all the areas but they will catch on soon. Just make sure they learn shower time isn't for play like bath time..they can slip and fall. had a hard time getting my oldest to behave in there once he got comfy....
