  1. Abishek, you are putting question without details. The agrl dev is slow in relation to the potential due to multiplicity of reasons. But there is no decline as such. The demand for agrl products is rising due to more population and more industry dependent on agrl products, but the total production is short of our domestic requirement in respect of major commercial and some food (pulses for eg) crops..

i am not giving more details since you do not seem to be posted with the minimum info to appreciate the details.. Suffice to know that our farmers are more progressive than the days of pre-independence, rural literacy has risen significantly in most states, agrl universities across the country are doing commendable work to provide low cost techy to increase productivity of crops...

but the seasonal vagaries that limit timely availability of rain for dry land crops, the poor maintenance of irrigation tanks that supply water to wet land crops (due to paucity of funds to periodically desilt them etc, as well as the encroachments that have affected free flow of water from catchments to water bodies), reducing allocation to agrl sector resulting in poor infra at rural levels - eg., no adequate community drying / thrashing yards for use of predominant small farmers that abound in the villages.. so on.. The farm gate prices for the agrl products are low.. trade exploitation is acute.. govts pay lip service only to this sector.. thus challenges are many for this sector.. how can we expect big progress.. but still there is progressive increase in production largely due to the toil of farmers..

hope i have given a overview to kindle your interest to know further if you like..
