  1. Yes

  2. Having grown up in a very sheltered home (and feeling that I was too sheltered to function in middle or high school) it is of my opinion that children should be exposed to things sooner rather than later.  Allowing your children to watch PG-13 type material won't necessarily make them mature too quickly.  Of course this operates within reason.  South Park and Family Guy would be a different story...

  3. haha my brother has been watching M rated games and R rated movies since he was 3.

  4. 10 they are not that bad though ... but southpark is badddddddddddd

  5. I don't think anyone should watch the Simpson's.  It's rude and teaches disrespect and vulgarity..  South park is even worse.  Kids get exposed to enough c**p, why can't home be a refuge from it?

  6. i wouldn't put a number to the age but i would say when they're mature enough to understand that some things on the show are not an example of reality. for example maggie copied a cartoon and hit homer over the head with something, bart skateboards over a cliff, homer eats doughnuts all day because he can and yet this cartoon is seen as comedy.....to adults that is and thats the difference

i think if a child can clearly understand that an episode such as those is meant not to be taken seriously then i'd let them watch it

  7. I think 10+.....its not as bad as family guy though

  8. My kids have always been allowed to watch the Simpsons. We all find it hilarious. They range in age from 5--10.

  9. It was the first show that my son 'watched' when we got home from the hospital :-)

My kids don't watch *anything* without the possibility of my watching it along with them & talking to them about it, about the ideas & stories that they tell.

But, for the most part, we don't tell them what they can & can't watch, either.

And, my kids are responsible for their own behavior choices, no matter *where* they first saw that particular behavior.  So, if they behave rudely because they saw rude behavior on the Simpsons (or any other TV show), it's not the TV Show that's held responsible for their choice - it's them.

  10. My nephew watches it and he is aged 7 - I think a lot of the adult content and humour washes over his head at this age but I don't think there is much harm in the Simpsons. There isn't much use in shielding our children from everyday issues in today's day and age! I believe children should be well - informed about the world and what is possible, to an extent. If it was to come on T.V., I would allow my 3-year old to watch it, supervised. I only have sight issues with the "Itchy and Scratchy show" as a part of the Simpsons which can sometimes be a little gory - that's all down to the individual parent and there is certainly worse on T.V. available!

  11. I think censoring TV is stupid in general would you rather have your kid learn that stuff at school? I'd rather explain to my kid what that stuff means in a way that they can understand. It's not as bad as family guy. I've been watching The Simpsons since I was born literally I'm 18 now and I'm not a bad kid; I've never been in trouble with the law, I've been grounded twice, and I'm going to college.

  12. We all watch the Simpsons, my kids are 10, 5 and 1.  I don't believe in censoring what they watch, I believe in explaining what they see in ways they can understand.  If they don't want to watch something they don't have to.

  13. By themselves, age 10, 11 or 12 depending on the child and how they respond to certain things on tv.

  14. I refuse to let mine watch it. They aren't allowed to watch the Family Guy or American Dad. I don't even let him watch The Hills. There are too many things that are disrespectful, allude to homosexuality, portray crime, etc. I would say there's no really appropriate age. It's not family TV. They can watch it when they turn 18 & live on their own????

Please, have them watch Discovery Channel or something else but not those types of shows. They're adult shows, not kid shows.
