  1. July 5, 2005 - all TVs 36" and larger, and 50% of those 25" to 35" must have digital tuners.

It would appear that the set you mentioned is an analog only TV meaning it would require a DTV converter box to view Over The Air digital broadcasts.  Of course, if you are on cable or satellite, you should not see a change next February.

You may have stumbled into a technical term by accident.  "Digital Ready" usually applys to sets that are capable of displaying a digital signal but do not have a tuner.  These were sold for a time before 2005 but after the date mentioned above, they were required to have tuners so they are pretty rare now or are simply sold as monitors.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  2. Q: What does "digital ready" mean?

A:  Nothing.  Any TV can display digital TV signals, IF you have a DTV to analog converter, so the term "digital ready" means nothing.  It's empty marketing hype.

Now, if you are asking if this TV is capable of receiving a digital signal, I suggest you check with the Curtis website for specific product information.
