Question:

Front Derailleur Cable Came Out?

When I was adjusting the tension of the Front Derailleur Cable, it came loose and unscrewed from the gear shifter. I've tried for hours to s***w it back in, but it wouldn't s***w it. I use a Shimano gear shifter. Has anyone else had this problem? And how do I fix it?

Many Thanks.

  1. You need to replace the cable, or take it to a bike shop and have them do it.  Shouldn't be more than a 10-minute job for an experienced person.

  2. simply undo the cable at the derailleur (usually a 9mm nut) to release tension from the cable, hold the plastic collar you use to tighten it up with your left hand and slowly s***w it back in while applying pressure with the cable sheath (using right hand on the sheath) the reason it wont s***w back in is its spring loaded, and the part you need to tighten is inside the plastic collar,so the only way to apply pressure is by using the cable sheath.sounds tricky, but it's not.good luck! if you still aint done it by tomorrow i'll put a quick video on you tube, cos it is a little hard to describe in words!!:)
