Front National (french) and Alliance National (Italy) Flame on logo, what do they mean?

I am curious how these were adopted or what they represent. Do any other parties use the flame as well?

The national front is a political party in France headed by  Jean-Marie Le Pen .He was one of the runners for the French President. He advocates immigration restrictions, He has been charged with Holocaust denial several times, and has unsuccessfully attempted to sue his accusers. I not familiar with the Italian Alliance National Party.
