Favoured Front Stage, sent at 2 to 1, came out victorious in the 400m Grade A1 Heat at Romford on Jan 12
Front Stage, the son of Droopys Scolari out of Twilight Fantasy, justified his status as the favourite by securing a comprehensive victory in a 400 metre long Grade A1 sprint at Romford on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
His odds were 2 to 1 – the highest by any contestant in the competition. The black dog began the event from the first trap, and crossed the wire in 24.75 seconds.
E.A. Gaskin, the trainer, was jubilant to see his hound grabbing £135 – the cash prize for the champion.
Rocket Dog, the son of Droopys Maldini out of Back By Daylight, confirmed second position.
Although the black hound could not give any competition to the victor, he defeated rest of the participants convincingly.
After leaving the trap, J.W. Reynolds trained dog finished the run in 24.87 seconds. His odds were 4 to 1 ahead of the race.
The third and fourth positions belonged to Your The Tops and Hazeldene Dan, respectively.
The two hounds were sent as joint favourites, 6/1, and it was a tough clash between the two evenly matched adversaries.
However, the third position was eventually locked by D Mullins’ trainee – the son of Honcho Classic out of Cooly Pantera.
The black hound made a fine effort and touched the finishing point in 25.07 seconds.
Hazeldene Dan, the son of Yeah Man out of Chloes Dream, reached the post 0.10 seconds after the third positioned hound.
He began the race from the fifth stall, and wrapped it up in 25.17 seconds.
The two hounds, Alis Valley, and Lolos Beauty, grabbed the last two positions, respectively.
Trained by D. Mullins, the son of Duke Special out of Minglers View, who clinched the second last spot, crossing the wire in 25.31 seconds.
The sole female participant in the heat, Lolos Beauty completed the order of finish.
After her discharge from the third stand, the daughter of Brett Lee out of Lolos Choice, concluded the proceedings in 25.41 seconds.
Although the competition was quite entertaining overall, it was a comfortable success for Front Stage.
The black hound failed to seize the top position in his previous outing, and finished second on the chart. However, a convincing triumph in this race has definitely pumped up the confidence of his fans and connections.
