While driving, the front stock speakers in my 1999 dodge ram 1500 sudenly quit working while the two in the rear seat continued to work. Then a few minutes later the front speakers started working again. So i thought nothing else of it. the next day the same thing happened. They went out then came back in and then went back out now they are still not working. I know i havent blown the speakers, because i dont listen to my music all that loud. I was wondering if it could be a fuse or just a loose wire somewhere. Any idea on what it is andhow to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  1. you probably have a short to ground at one of the front spkrs, most likely right at the tinsel leads of the spkr and the car, you can use a multi meter to check continuity to ground on the spkr leads behind the deck.

  2. Dodge has the worse OEM stereos made, Sounds to me that your receiver (radio) itself has a failed preamp

  3. generally 2 speakers will not blow up at the same time.  Therefore, you most likely have a radio that is on its last legs.

Best buy or a good sound shop can replace a radio at about $150.00 parts/labor included.  That is you best bet.
