I want to buy some SMB boots and a friend is selling her pair fairly cheap...but she said it was "rear" boots...

Is there a difference between the front and rear boots? Can I use rear boots for my horses front legs?

  1. The boots are made the same - neoprene with velcro elastic fasteners - usually front and rear are just different sizes.  Try them on your horse, if they fit, you win.

  2. only th elite matter if they are for front or back, the support is in different spots then in the front

  3. I think it would be okay, but obviously it would be better to use front boots.

I've used front boots on my horse's back legs, and they didn't fit the greatest, so I'd imagine the same thing would go for your situation.

But I don't know too much about that.

  4. uh i'm sure it won't fit because front legs are shapped differently than back legs

  5. i was just reading about this..

the SMB elites have specific front and back boots (different darting to make them fit well, and keep dirt out) , but the SMB II and III don't matter.

so if they are the elites then it matter, if they're not its probably a matter of the size (most average horses have "large" back legs and "medium" front legs..

  6. they probably have the skid plate on the fetlock, so it must be used on the rear legs only. if it looks like a regular ol' pair of boots, it can be used on the back or front legs.
