Front yard landscaping - plant suggestions?

Question

We live in an area thats about 85-90 F in summer and 5 F or so in the winter months. I'm redoing the landscaping in the front yard and want to put in some plants/shrubs that can survive these temperatures and still look good. Does anybody have any recommendations?

We live in new england and have holly, barberry and boxwood for shrubs. They have interesting texture and color throughout the year. They are also very manageable in that they are slow growing. For color we fill in with annuals.
