teaching passing, setting, spiking, blocking, and moving around the court is something that i found integral in training frosh. but in regular games hardly any team spikes against us nor is blocking needed because most hits travel towards the back of the court on the third hit. my question is, what aspect of the game should i focus more on in our practices so that they can benefit the most.

  1. Keep emphasizing everything like you are doing.  You will run across a team that hits and you will need the blocking that you are working on now.  And you will need the hitting to beat them.  You can not plan on every team being free ball teams.

  2. defense, and just making sure that all the fundamentals are mastered.  if you say you need 10 balls passed to the setter, they should be able to pass 10 in a row to the setter.  i would also say consistent serving...lots of points are missed by serving.
