Frozen condensation on inside of ski goggles?

i had the problem with condensation getting on the inside of my goggles and freezing. I also had my face covered with a fleece neck guard and had that tucked under my goggles. It would be nice to know if I can fix this or if I need new goggles. Any suggestions?

  1. Hi,

It might be an idea to keep the fleece outside the goggles as having it inside will allow any moisture from your face (melting snow, etc) to move up under the goggles by capillary action through the fabric so to speak, and once in there condense on the lenses which would be the coldest area. Also, l make sure the goggles are "double-glazed" some of the cheaper uns arent, leading to greater liklihood of condensation anyway (not dissing your goggles mind!! :) )

    Hope this helps..

  2. I used to have the same problem. Make sure you have good quality goggles. Right now I'm using Spy Bias (women's goggles) which are REALLY nice. The male version of that goggle is Spy Army or Armor or something. Make sure your goggles have anti-fog too.

  3. You don't need new goggles. I can tell you right now that the fleece neck guard tucked in under your goggles caused your goggles to have condensation & freeze up. Never have anything under your goggles. They should fit naturally to your face or you have them too tight or too loose. Also, check to make sure there are air holes around the edges of your goggles; most goggles have these holes so the fresh air can circulate through them. These holes keep your goggles from fogging up but if you stuff your fleece into them, it will bring moisture into your goggles & then it will freeze up. Your goggles shoould have a soft outer layer around them so they fit comfortably on your face. If your goggles don't have these air or vent holes then you need to buy new goggles. I always ski with goggles & they never get moisture in them or freeze up.

  4. one way to fix this is a trick i use on my paintballing mask as well as ski goggles.  Get some heavy duty rain-x from walmart or somewhere that you would use on your car windshield.  Apply and let dry for at least 5 hours.  If this doesnt work i would consider getting thermal goggles that have two lenses and vents at the top and sides.  I got some EXCELLENT thermal goggles that were Scott's brand for only $25 and they did not fog up even in ten degree weather.

  5. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THE SEAL HAS BEEN BROKEN, IT MAY BE TIME TO INVEST IN A NEW PAIR OF GOGGLES
