Frozen in poetic time?

I'm 16. When I was about 12 I wrote prize winning poems. I was published four times. Once in a Newsday, once in Seventeen, and the two other times were in a little book thing. Teachers were shocked and looked at me with disbelief when they heard the words that came out of my 12 year old, 68 lb. body. I won tuition to an exclusive writing camp. I recently looked through all my old poems and realized that I wrote just as well and mellifluously as I do now. wtf. somebody explain!

  1. There is no absolute explanation for it.  You must have been exposed to good literature and a broad vocabulary at an early age, and your ability to express yourself emerged much earlier than for most.  But exactly how and why that ability emerges in some and not others remains to be explored.
