  1. wrap it in a shrink wrap and soak it in a running tap water that works fine with me every time

  2. If it fits in the microwave you can use that. But be very careful if it's raw. Other than that leave it in the fridge overnight so that you can be sure that everything will be ok.

  3. when freezing any seafood they should be frozen in a container with water, the water assists to prevent freezer burn which is why you can freeze seafood longer by this method,    it also assists defrosting, you just place the container in your sink and run cold water over it for a while, you will find this quickens the defrosting.

  4. Put it into a plastic baggie and immerse it in cold water. Also works for frozen chicken.  Takes about 10 minutes.

  5. let it sit all day form morning until you cook it, soak it in warm or hot water if your in a hurry but don't unwrap it yet. you can also defrost it in a microwave it your microwave has that feature.

  6. You shouldn't really mess with the defrosting of fish cos it carries alot of bacteria when done incorrectly (same as chicken).

  7. my dad does this all the time....

1.Heat the little twirly things on the top of your oven

2.fill a pan with like 4 cups of water

    3.heat the water

4.put the salmon into the hot water (boiling hot water)

5.rotate the fish every 5-10 minutes!

    6.ENJOY!

It takes about 30minutes :o)    Hope it works!

  8. if it is fillet just wash properly them marinate with your desire ingredients wrap with foil or baking paper then bake with a lower temperature(slow cooking) then after a couple of minutes remove the wrap carefully or cool it first then bake os just let it that way and it will goes steam then spread with mayo and a few drops of lemon juice and garnish with steamed brocolli and baby carrots.

  9. I think you could poach it - we've only tried it with Cod before but I don't see why it wouldn't work with Salmon.

Put a pan on a low heat, add about a quarter of a cup of milk, place the fish in and put the lid on.  Keep checking the fish and turn it over if you think it needs it.  Once the fish is cooked, remove the fish and, if you want, you could use the milk to make a sauce to go with the fish.

Sauce (1 serve) :  In a separate pan, melt about a tablespoon of butter.  Once its melted, remove the butter from the heat and mix in enough cornflour (or you could use flour if you don't have cornflour) to make a paste.  Add the milk left over from poaching the fish and whisk the mixture (the butter, cornflour and milk) before putting it back on the heat or it will go lumpy.  Don't go away and leave the sauce on the heat but continue stirring it and the sauce will thicken as you whisk it.  If you need to add more milk, only add a little at a time and whisk it in as you add it.  If its too runny and you need more cornflour, don't add it to the hot mixture or it will go lumpy.  Mix the cornflour in a cup with a little milk and then add it slowly to the mixture and, again, keep whisking it in as you add it.

You can just season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper or you could also add some mustard or cheese (Parmesan is good) if you want to give it a bit more flavour.

Not sure if this is something you would consider (given that we've never tried it with salmon) but good luck with whatever you decide.

Alternatively, you could probably just defrost it in the microwave on the defrost setting but I don't know how this would turn out either.

  10. fill your sink with warm water and while it is stil in the package put it face down in water and let it soak for a bit

  11. i use hot water

  12. I wouldn't eat salmon that' s been frozen. Why bother. Chuck it out and go buy some fresh salmon.

  13. I bought Mahimahi and boiled it a few minutes when it was frozen and  then added rice and a little salt to the water brought it back to a boil, covered it and simmered it for 20 minutes so it absorbed all the water. Then took it off and put the bottom of the pan in a container of cold water to cool down quickly. Then it was still eating hot but not burning-my-mouth hot. I added seasoning and it tasted wonderful!

So, if you boil it to thaw it then you can do anything else you want with it since it will already be cooked if you boil it long enough.

  14. Put it in a sink of cold tap water.  Not suppose to use hot water.
