Fruit flys everywhere?

how do i get rid of fruit flys, ive tried getting rid of fruit and that vineger dish soap solution but nothing works HELP!!!!!!

Things You’ll Need:

Basic household cleaner with ammonia as an active ingredient

Liquid Residual insect spray and misting type applicator (optional, if you decide to use insecticides)

Insect non residual aerosol bombs (optional, if you decide to use an insecticide)

Step1

Naturally, first off, get rid of the infected fruit by discarding into an outdoor trash receptacle and store non infected fruit in the fridge or outdoors, if the weather is cool.

Step2

Thoroughly clean the area where the fruit was initially stored with an ammoniated or similar household cleaning agent. Especially concentrate around the garbage cans, cleaning the inside and outside of the container and being sure you have a clean liner in the can.

Step3

Dig a little deeper now and locate any areas where something sweet such as pop or juice may have spilled, or is stored. Even if it has dried up you want to be sure all remnants are gone, for they can live on off other sweet food sources besides fruit. If you cannot reach an area, like along side or under the fridge you can spray some cleaner over the area to contaminate it. Also sweep well to be sure there are no sugar granules or such on the floors.

Check under your sinks for any stagnant water or clutter of paper bags possibly that may harbor a food source for them and eliminate any items you are suspicious of into an outside trash source.

Regarding insecticides, there are a couple methods you can employ. One would be to lightly mist spray areas where you have seen the flies so that when they land they will pick it up. You only need to leave this residual on for 24 hours as a max. Clean the areas later and it is never wise to spray directly on a surface where food stuffs may end up.

Step6

You can also set off insect bombs if you choose following label instructions and taking all precautions. The bombs will circulate throughout the air and will not leave a residual effect. This is the quickest way to kill them off, besides increasing the sanitation levels, as already mentioned.

Tips :

When buying fruit, especially from outdoor summer fruit stands, inspect it well for fruit flies.



Avoid any fruit that is very ripe which would be the most likely attractant for the fruit flies.



Ideally store fruit in the fridge or another area where it will stay cool.



If you employ any insecticides, follow all label instructions to the letter!

They are so bad this year I went to Lowes and bought a bug zapper for $35 I put it in the center of the house and turn off all of the lights. At night they zap away and theres a pile of them under the zapper. I have tried glue traps and everthing else but this is working.

Try adding a bit of honey to the vinegar/dish soap solution and add a sticky fly trap. Seems to be working pretty well for me. Also remember to flush out your drains really well.
