Question:

Frustrated Canon PIXMA iP1200 user - not able to print with black only cartridge?

I just realized that my Canon PIXMA printer won't be able to print plain black color when the color cartridge has already run out. I thought all printers will since I don't need color, just plain black text. Is there any recommended printer that gives me freedom to have only a plain black cartridge (even if color is depleted), refill, not expensive cartridge (not strict on quality). Thanks.

  1. most printer you can't

  2. Yeah, today's printer does not allow you to print when one of the color (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) run out of ink. This is to prevent the damage of your print-head.

You may consider to buy mono laser printer. Inkjet printer tends to have a problem if you are not printing regularly.

Hope this help, to solve your problem, try to replace your cartridge with a new one. If still does not working, you may need to do head cleaning from your printer properties.

  3. Just get a cheap refill kit from here http://www.misterinkjet.com/canon3.htm
