Frutose, surcose, glucose with yeast, which one is the fastest?

Hi...

the digestion of the sugars by yeast... which sugars would be the fastest in terms of the rate od digestion and carbon dioxide released during the reactions...

Please explain in detailed and i really appreciate ur help!!

  1. Glucose is the fastest.

    Sucrose is a disachharide and therefore has to be broken down first.

    Fructose has to be converted to glucose before going through glycolysis.

    These extra steps add time.


  2. It's supposed to be glucose, but in our classes' coursework last year, no one found glucose to be the best substrate. Fructose, sucrose and maltose were the better sugars in our experiments lol.

    But yeah, theoretically speaking, glucose.

  3. glucose, it is the simplest sugar molecule, only one sugar molecule, the other have more than  glucose molecule.
