Frying Tofu--tips or recipes?

Trying to move toward being a vegetarian. I love tofu, but at home mine never comes out so great.Thanks!

  1. they have special tofu frying bases, go to ur local health food store =]


  2. All I know is I like it nice and simple, dipped in soysauce after being deep-fried and cooled down a bit. Don't use silken tofu.  

  3. Make sure you are buying firm tofu, and try to dry some of the liquid off of it first before you try to fry it.

  4. I always pre-prepare my firm tofu by slicing it, drizzling it with olive oil and soy sauce and baking it at 400 for 15-25 minutes, store in airtight container in fridge up to one week and use as needed.

    To fry remove excess moisture.  Dip in seasoned bread crumbs (optional). Heat vegetable or olive oil in skillet on medium high heat. Fry tofu about 1-2 minutes per side until golden.
