  1. Ok, I got to generalize my answer.  With respects to his rank, he can get housing pretty quickly.  Junior enlisted can take up to a year or more to get quarters.  Beyond the rank of E6, wait times can be up to 6 months.

Senior enlisted can wait as little a month.  Some bases have no waiting at all so it's best to see their website or call their local housing office to get an idea what you should do.

In any case, if there's a wait, you should start preparing for off post living until your number for housing comes up.

One more thing, housing will consider how many kids you have.  The more kids, the more bedrooms which most times, equals less time to wait.

Edit 1:  If you're new to the military, your husband needs to make reporting to the local housing office a priority.  However, he can't see any housing rep until he signs in off leave, only then will they process you.  Then you'll be issued a number based on rank and size of family.

    Good Luck!

  2. Best way to get an answer...call the base housing office at Ft. Lee..they can tell how long a wait it will be for your rank and family size.  While some bases move quickly, I have found the majority of bases have at least a 3-6 month waiting list for lower enlisted.  Find out now so if you have to rent you can start looking now.

  3. it depends on how far down you are on the housing list. find our what number you are and that should give you a good idea of how long it will take.
