Fta satelite dish motor?

with a motor on my fta dish will the motor allow the dish to turn 360 degrees because i've noticed that some birds are in some strange locations

  1. 180 deg is more than enough to see any satellite in the Clark Belt. Due south +/-  70degrees is enough for the UK extremes being PAS 7/10 @ 68.5 deg E and PAS 9 @ 68 deg W.


  2. There are not any motors that would turn 360 because it wouldn't do any good. If you are in Europe or North America then satellites are based on your true south. You can't go 90 degrees either way past your true south because it is beond the horizon and the earth would block your line of sight. Really anything beond about 70 degrees is not easy to get a signal from.

    Your true south is your longitude. If you don't know it you can goto a site like http://world.maporama.com/

    Enter your address and country and it will give you a lat and longitude. From this you can figure about a max of 60 - 70 degrees in each direction.

    I'm at -76. This is considered west so I would check satellites starting from 76W. With my FTA dish I can get sats from 148W to 27W.
