Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun enter into Men’s Doubles semi-final of Indonesia Open Premier Super series
Chinese Men’s Doubles top shuttlers, Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun, confirmed their place in the Men’s Doubles semi-final after taming Korea’s Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong in the quarter-final of the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011, in Indonesia, on
Friday, June 24.
World Number One Chinese pair consumed only 34 minutes to thrash the Koreans in a straight-set contest, where Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun proved that they are the best in the business at the moment.
The opening set started in a thrilling manner where both sides worked hard to dominate the game by putting maximum speed in their play. The crowd were delighted as they witnessed top-quality badminton from both duos. At the interval in the opening game,
the Chinese pair secured a two-point difference of 11-9.
After getting back into the court, the Chinese duo kept their momentum going against the Koreans, who were committing errors in the game. Haifeng and Yun grabbed the opening set in just 16 minutes with a good margin of 21-16.
In the second game, both sides played top-quality badminton in the first part of the set. The Koreans managed a two-point lead in the set by reaching at 11-9. The speed of the Koreans at the net was impressive as they earned many points by dominating the
game at the net.
After the break, the Koreans reached at 15-11, when the Chinese shuttlers lifted up their level of play and levelled the score by reaching 18-18.
At this crucial stage, the Koreans could not handle the pressure of the match, whereas, the Chinese players remained patient which earned them a much needed victory by a 21-19 margin, in 18 minutes. The 34-minute battle ended with the score of 21-16 and
21-19.
In the Men’s Doubles semi-final, the Chinese pair will take on ruling Olympic gold medallists, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia, who proved too strong for top seeds, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark, in the quarter-final of the event.
