Shouldn't there be a special rate which doesn't increase for our rescue services?

How many potential lives could be lost through the cost of fuel?

  1. I live on the coast, about 300yards from the Lifeboat station, and know some of the lifeboatmen. It's not uncommon lately to see them out with the collection boxes for the odd hour or two at weekends lately, I'm sure it used to be a once a year thing.

  2. I'm always surprised the govt. can find billions for Iraq and fifty billion for Northern Rock and nine billion for the Olympics while lifeboats can't afford fuel and people with kidney cancer can't have the drugs they need because they're too expensive. I think someone should remind the govt. that we vote them in to look after *us*.

  3. Lol@your boobie!

The government (us taxpayers) should be paying this, the coast guard should not have to worry about scrimping over the cost of fuel.

Edit: I just signed Daisy's petition....with my on screen name :)

  4. i can't believe they have the same fuel costs as everybody else,,

concidering the job they have to do..

which lets be fair,,, most people wouldn't like to do,,,

their a special breed of people that pick up the remains of a fatality,,

and deal with the loss of  life and expected to carry on with their duty

    it's stupid

  5. The RNLI, and the Air Ambulance Service are the charities I willingly support.

Love animals, my contribution is a rescue dog!

It is appalling that saving lives has to rely on voluntary contributions.

  6. The lifeboat Service has long been one of my charities for obvious reasons, however I must say that I am totally against government funding for the RNLI on the grounds that it is a very efficient organisation and any interference from civil servants and bureaucrats would render the service much less effective.

That said there is no reason at all why the government should not pick up the bills for fuel / servicing of lifeboats ............. lets face it they give grants for mosques and the like!

Finally I will say this,  the brave men and women who undertake this very dangerous task, do so without pay on their own time, night or day and unlike the other 'emergency services' do not go on strike!

What they do is for the good of all without thought for reward or recognition.

Footballers, singers, wife beaters, civil servants, gold medal winners all get 'gongs' for doing sod all ........... I say that the RNLI are worth millions of times more.

    Edit.

T ern, they are in pubs and clubs + shops all the year round, but unlike some of the other 'charities' they do not have the budget to advertise for donations.

  7. lol! I won't peek at your boobie...Is it safe to look yet?!

    I  signed Daisy's petition.

  8. All emergency services should be run free, They are on constant 24 hr call,  lets get our priorities put first, instead of the government money pinch in.????

  9. That is disgraceful!

Emergency services should all get tax free fuel.

I'm going to start a petition!!

    Edit: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/nofuela...

    SIGN IT!

edit 2:  I dont like to be noticed. I'll just hijack your Q lololol

  10. i think the fuel should be free for the

emergency services, feck sake this government

make enough out us motorists as it is,

    you're always making boobies busby :) x
