Fuel Level Sending Unit on a 99 Tahoe..

Question

i have a 99 tahoe and the fuel gage doesnt work.. my friend thinks its the Fuel Level Sending Unit or something like that lol i read somewhere that you had to replace the entire fuel pump on a chevy tahoe in order for it to be fixed bc the FLSU is built into the pump. Does anyone know anything about this or a website i could find out more. and if it is the FLSU where can i find one and a price?

i have a 99 blazer with the same problem $400 to fix its a problem with alott of 99 gm trucks and suv.  if u got the instrument cluster that tells how many gallons of fuel you done used and your mpg   reset it everytime you fillup with fuel.   you hold the two buttons together at the same time and it will reset everything   thats what i do on my blazer. just find out how many gallons of gas it holds. mines is pretty dang close to what i use  when i fillup. if u got that i would save that $400

it's true it is one piece. You have to drop the entire fuel tank to get it. then remove the retaining ring. the pump assembly will lift out BUT you  need a special tool to remove the "clips" from the pump and the hoses that go out of it. then you just click slide them onto the new pump assembly and put it back in spin back on the retaining ring. and bolt the tank back up and turn the truck to on that that will be that.

-also some aftermarket pumps will give you a different wire harness, but don't worry it will work just follow the  instructions provided

any auto parts store will have your pump.

The tool comes in a set called an A/C fuel disconnect set.

yeah its all one unit. Your looking at around $400.00 just for the part. Labor is going to be pretty expensive too, They have to drop down the fuel tank.

the fuel pump is housed in the fuel sending unit which is inside the tank. any major auto part store will quote a price on a new unit. if you drop the tank go with new unit and fuel pump nothing used. paint the tank several coats with good paint
