Large take formaly used for fuel is accross street , in use for storing water now, is rusting out, seeping water, near sink hole, accross street from my well, and I'm wondering if that rust and chemicals from it's history could damage our ground water?

Owner has no concern for my family and has connections in high places of our county.

  1. How far is the tank from your well? Is it more than 150 feet? That's the required "safe" distance from septic tanks to wells (it used to be 50 feet). What is the stored water used for? If it's used for irrigation any fuel that was left in the tank has already been  dispersed on the ground long ago. I wouldn't worry about the rust as it's just becoming iron oxide. You should have the well water tested occasionally anyway.
