Fuel efficient cars...?

Well it'll be a year or so before I can drive with a permit at least, but I'd like to know if anyone thinks we'll start to have more fuel efficient cars that the average worker can afford. I'd get a used one if I could but I don't want to waste away so much money on gas. Does anyone think by summer of next year or the year after that we'll start to have more cars running on another resources besdes foreign oil? And whatever happened to the solar powered/electric car?

  1. Electric cars are making a serious comeback.  The odds at this point are that electric cars will be the main transportation of the future.  The only problem is that it's still not a widespread technology, so it won't be very affordable for several years yet.  See the link below for details.

  2. This answer from a man old enough to be your grandfather!!

A lot will happen in the next 2 years, both in the world and in your life. It's difficult to know now what the outcome will be exactly. But no need to panick.

Remember only a year ago the hottest thing on the market was big gas guzzling SUV's

OPEC was taking well note of this.

Newer cars will likely get smallerand more fuel efficient. I did a lot of travel all over the world in the last few years. In most places were people had a lot less money than we have here were paying 6 to 8 dollars a gallon.

Small motor scooters are common and most cars are smaller and are DIESEL because they are more fuel efficient.

Hybrids are fuel efficient but very costly and costly to maintain.

Solar powered electric cars were never practical because the power that could be generated from the sun was too little for a practical automobile.

Many people that use E85 ethanol are dissapointed because they didn't know ethanol is 34% less thermal energy than gasoline. Thus poor performance and poor milage.

As of now our least expensive energy is Natural gas. 100,000 BTU costs about 70 cents compared to 4 dollars for 120,000 BTU of gasoline.

Personally I think crs powered by natural gas is the way to go.

But as of now there are few places where you can get fuel. Only  big fleet owners such as Bus companies are using natural gas because they have their own fueling stations.

Natural gas conversation kits are not too expensive if there is places to buy fuel.

We willust have to wait until politicians stop bickering and get a for real direction that is in the people's best interest.

IF YOU THINK THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN !!! Good luck and keep informed.

  3. as soon as the battery problem has been resolved it might be possible but until that time not likely -- not to mention it would take you years to pay for such a car-and not realize a difference in a normal car and high gas

  4. Even if U found a good solution the Democrats would block it. We need to start drilling as soon as we do that the price will come down... They want U to walk so the big cheese can fly . This Global Warming and the Left are trying to prevent as many young people from driving as they can... GW is not happening....

  5. yes, yes, yes. i do think that would surely happen specially now that more than half of the world's oil reserved have been consumed. gone, so in the end we will forced to go green. and i do belive it's a matter of whether the government will support such idea or will kneel down STILL to oil companies.
