Fuel gauge on pontoon boat does not work?

Question

When I turn the key on the neddle goes backwards past empty. What is the problem?

thats weird it almost sounds like the polarity is reversed. Either that or your sender is shot. Check you connections and test the sender as said by someone else in this quesiton

Find the sender on the tank take the center wire off turn key on touch the ground wire with sender wire on the tank if guage goes to full than tank sender bad> if nothing check ground on tank>or guage or wire>

I have the same issue, no key get a reading, ignition on reads empty. I pulled the postive and negative from the sender and still got no reading, if i connect the positive and negative together will that give me a reading of a full tank (no resistance and bad sender) and if I still have no reading does that mean a wiring issue?
