Fuel prob 90, 50 hp again just got motor 2 weeks ago changed diaphram did timing check and still burning more

fuel than my friend with a 90 hp something,only used it one time but rode for umm hour and half or so burn like 7 gallons motor is not running smooth needs some more tinkering but the fuel thing is not cool..and costly

Get running smooth but if your running with a 90 you will use more fuel to keep up with him>

If you can't do it, take it to a outboard motor mechanic who can.

7 gallons in 1 1/2 hours is about right for a 50hp.  

What kind of motor?

Describe "not running smooth".

1.  compression test

2.  spark test, use an inline spark tester (couple bucks at a car parts store), set the gap at 7/16", clip it to the engine block, look for sharp blue spark while somebody turns the engine over with the key.

Report your results.

3.  fuel tank vent open and clear?  fresh fuel with no water or debris in tank?  fuel line holding pressure?

4.  timer base moves smoothly without sticking?

5.  what do the spark plugs look like after a hi-speed run?  especially if one looks different from the other(s).

Time since last carb rebuild?

Time since last water pump impeller change?

Time since last gear oil change?
