  1. Overhaul the carburetor. The needle valve is probably varnished in the closed position. This happens when the carburetor is not run dry after the last use of the engine and it sits over the winter.  It's not hard to do, just take pictures of every stage and do not loose any parts.

  2. Must be obstruction between the fuel tank and the "bubble" or air is getting in lines.

but if fuel is geting on the motor and nothing happens, you got probably an electric issue also.

  3. You didn't say if it's a 2 or 4 stroke, but it sounds like you need the fuel system cleaned. If it's a 4 stroke, you may be able to get by with a gas treatment like stp. If it's a 2 stroke pull and check the gas line going into the carb. Put the gas line into a can to prevent any spills and prime the bulb to see if gas if flowing. If so, you'll need to clean and rebuild the carb. If you are not sure about how to do it, you can always take it to the shop. Good luck! Fishsteelhead brings up a good point with the fuel stabilizer.

Additional: Did you take the side panel off and clean out the fuel pump screen? This is all part of the fuel system and the screen does get clogged and gummed up.

  4. sounds like you may have debrie in your fuel line remove the conector from the fuel line and replace it also you might invest in a small inline filter there usaly under ten bucks.

  5. I would suggest that you ask your question in a forum, that covers marine engines

  6. Know that my response is not one to advise ya' on your problem but, am assumin' that your referrin' to an Outboard so, the only thing I might add is try and get inta' the habit of usin' a good Fuel Stabalizer with every tank of gas. At first I thought it was just another way of gettin' over on the consumer but I was wrong! Use it for every tank full in the 20hp Johnson (2stroke) ~ carb stays clean as well as it's keepin' properties of the fuel from not breakin' down after engine sits idle for extended periods. Just an additional thought and somethin' to consider. Good luck and hope ya' get it resolved ;)... < ' ( (( > <
